Vintage

As a photographer I have a passion for the history of photography and the amazing vintage cameras that were produced in the early 1900's. Recently my grandfather, who also had the same passion for photography passed away and I received two of his amazing old cameras. This is a 1958 Kodak Signet 80 with flash, it was the last and most sophisticated camera of the Kodak's Signet line. It is an interchangeable lens 35 mm rangefinder camera produced from 1958 to 1962.

This got me wanting more vintage cameras. So when Donnie and I had to make a trip to Lawrence this weekend for some Jeep parts, I wanted to go shopping! We found a huge Antique store that had tons of choices. I found three beautiful vintage cameras to call my own.

This first one we found is a 1930's Kodak Jiffy six-20 and was produced during 1933 to 1937 and originally sold for $6.75, which would be around $315 today.

The next camera is the well known Kodak Brownie Hawkeye flash camera. This model was produced from 1950 to 1961 and was originally $7.00 with the attached flash, $5.50 without a flash.

This last one that we found is not actually a photograph camera but a movie camera. It was just so interesting that I had to have it! It is a Cinemaster G-8 8mm Movie camera, made by the Universal Camera Corporation in 1946. The top lever winds up and the camera would record once turned to the on position. This one still functions, if only I could find some 8mm film to give it a shot! It shoots in 16, 24, 32 frames per second with a f/ 2.5 16mm lens and cost $51.00 new, which would be about $665 in todays cost.

I already have my new camera's around the house and I love looking at them and playing with all their "strange" features! I can't wait to find some more amazing cameras for years to come!
